The Cane Rat Story

Established in 2020 in Stoke Mandeville, Buckinghamshire, we are more than just an independent craft rum maker: we are pioneers.

The Process

We meticulously ferment our wash over several days, carefully distil each batch, and bottle it all under one roof. From the first ingredient to the final seal, every drop is crafted entirely by us.

Twisted neck. A small incident led to a slight twist where the Llyne arm connects to the top of the still. Luckily, no major damage done, and character+1
A thin steam of water cools the "lentil" that sits at the top of the still. The lentil, aka dephlamator, is a...well...lentil-shaped apparatus, that increased the reflux in the still, thus increasing the purity of the output.
Some distillers polish their stills and condensers to shiny perfection. Others, like us, believe the patina and dents that develop over the life of the still add character and beauty.
